Scooby doo was first put on the air in 1969 on the CBS network. They were looking for a more comedy and adventure type cartoon instead of the normal super hero cartoon. They then brought the idea to hanna-barbera who assigned Ken Spears and Joe Ruby to create characters, plots, and many of the story lines. The show started out with four teenagers that travel around the country in a van called the Mystery Machine, solving mysteries. A great dane accompanied them but was not a prominent character. The first name of the show was called Mysteries Five and was changed to Who's Scared? Fred Silverman the head of Daytime Programming for CBS was flying to Los Angeles while listening to Frank Sinatra. He heard the phrase "Scooby-Dooby-Doo" and immediately thought of the name of the show, he would call it Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? and decided to make the dog the star of the show. After all that the show Scooby-Doo was born. | ||
